Rustic Roots
A bar with a character of its own
At Rustic Roots, the bar is a focal point of the setting. Stave surfaces, dark counters and wood-framed details give it warmth and structure, while the shelving and working surfaces support the practical side of the space.

The work belongs together
The bar front gives an immediate sense of the material. The back-bar arrangement carries that character through the room. Closer views reveal the cabinetry, counter grain and sink area that make the finished setting more than a single attractive photograph.
A relationship with history
Rustic Roots appeared alongside SHB in a community-partner post in 2021. The completed bar photographs shown here are from November 2025.
A small opening with a useful purpose
The rebar footrails pass through the original bung holes in the barrel staves. The barrel’s construction becomes part of the bar’s function: a place to rest your feet, built into the material itself.
SHB used this detail on both Rustic Roots bars. The shop close-up and installed view show how the welded supports and long rail come together. Functional rebar details like these have become part of the shop’s signature.
What this can mean for your space
If you want a bar or gathering area with a distinct identity, start with the room, the people using it and the details that must work. We can discuss the fabricated elements that would make the difference.
