Ben’s Eagle Project
A useful piece. A shared effort.
For Ben’s Eagle project, SHB contributed shop space, time and hands-on help to build a flag-retirement collection box. The finished piece gives the community a place to leave worn flags with respect.
- Purpose
- Flag retirement box for an Eagle Scout project
- Scout
- Ben Schultz, Troop 7 in Godfrey
Make room for someone to build
The shop photographs follow the design discussion, the material and the people working around it. SHB donated time, tools and shop space, helping source hardwoods, develop the design, engrave the box and bring the parts together.
Ben was approaching his eighteenth birthday and the deadline for earning Eagle. The project was completed just before that milestone. The work offered both a useful community piece and a chance to see a substantial idea through.
Let the purpose be clear
The engraved lid explains how to deposit a flag and identifies Ben’s contribution through Troop 7 in Godfrey. A carved flag across the front carries that purpose into the form of the box.
See it through
The completed-piece photographs bring the box and the people behind it together. The work in the shop becomes something the wider community can use.
